The Little Book of ABBAClaire WelchABBA FIRST CAME TO PROMINENCE when they won the coveted Eurovision Song Contest in 6 April 1974 with their highly acclaimed "Waterloo". Stig Anderson was confident they would win and was determined to bring them fame and fortune. This Little Book of ABBA charts the phenomenon that the band became, from their rise in Sweden to the demise of a worldwide sensation. Despite the group's spilt in 1982, the band enjoyed a revival in the late 1980s when tribute band Björn Again began in Melbourne, Australia. It was a new concept that was to take the world by storm and ABBA tribute bands are still popular and successful today. Songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus continued their musical collaboration and their biggest success came with Mamma Mia! which features the music of ABBA. The movie of the same name starring Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Julie Walters is currently in production.
