It's only February and already there is a
lot happening in the ABBA world.
April sees the release of The Visitors
Deluxe Edition CD/DVD, with the exciting news that it will contain the
first "new" ABBA music heard since the box set Thank You For The Music
in 1994. 'From a Twinkling Star To A Passing Angel' promises early
versions of the album's closing track, 'Like An Angel Passing Through My
Room'.
April also sees a limited
edition 12 inch single of 'Voulez-Vous' (extended dance version)/'If It
Wasn't For The Nights' on blue glitter vinyl, to commemorate Record
Store Day, an annual event started in 2007 to celebrate the uniqueness
of the independent record store.
But what at the former ABBA
members up to? In January Agnetha made a rare public appearance the
annual fashion gala hosted by the Swedish edition of ELLE magazine,
where she was presented with the Fashion Icon award. In August Benny
Anderssons Orkester will perform a one-off concert in Upsalla, Sweden.
This year also marks 40 years since ABBA's first
single release, 'People Need Love', and also 30 years since their final
recordings and appearances together. Will we see any special events or
releases to mark these anniversaries?
