THE GREAT PURGE OF APRIL 2002 Why has the site that advertised that it had "845 links to ABBA and related sites" suddenly dropped down to 487? During 3-5 and 13-15 April 2002, every single link in this links section was checked. 185 links were removed because they were either dead (i.e. the site was no longer there), ABBA content had been removed, or they simply could not be found - perhaps through Internet connection problems. I will be checking them all again soon to confirm that indeed they are dead, or no longer relevant to ABBA fans, and then they will be deleted completely from this site. For now, those 185 links can be found here. 43 other links were also updated. These can be found listed on the new links page, and are also marked on the other pages by the "new" icon. I've also taken this opportunity to revamp the entire links section. The sites found in the all sites a to z section are now solely ABBA related - all other sites, such as on-line stores or general information sites about Sweden, have been removed. These sites can still be found in the sites by category section, though they will eventually be moved to a different part of ABBA World. These 173 sites are no longer counted in the total number of sites. Many site rankings have also been updated - some have gone up, some have gone down, and others have had their rankings removed completely. "Essential" and "highly recommended" sites can still be found on the essential sites page. So, that's how this site now contains 487 ABBA or related links - but now, it's all ABBA (or related)! |
