French & Saunders spoof MAMMA MIA! for Comic Relief
British comic duo Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders have filmed a funny spoof of
MAMMA MIA! for the Red Nose Day. Also stars Joanna Lumley, Sienna Miller, Philip
Glenister, Alan Carr, Matt Lucas, and a Swede. It is widely reported that it is
French & Saunders last ever sketch for Comic Relief, though the duo will be
touring Australia in June and July.

MAMMA MIA! at the Oscars
Though MAMMA MIA! was not nominated for any
Academy Awards, the movie's presence was felt in the
Oscar's ceremony held at the Kodak
Theater, Los Angeles on 22 February 2009.
In a montage of 2008 comedy films featuring Seth Rogan and James Franco from
the film Pineapple Express, 'Dancing Queen' and other footage from the MAMMA MIA! was
featured, and the pair sang about the movie's cast to the tune of 'Take A Chance

Sing-A-Long Mamma Mia! to hit cinemas in Australia ·

ABBA fans have reason to sing, with a special karaoke
edition of the hit film Mamma Mia! about to arrive in
Australian cinemas.
Universal Music announced that "due to overwhelming demand"
a sing-a-long version of Mamma Mia! The Movie, with lyrics
on screen for each musical number, would be released in
theatres so audiences could join in on their favourite ABBA
songs.
The film, which stars Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Pierce
Brosnan, has earned $27.5 million at the local box office
since it opened on July 10.
More than three million Australians have seen the film,
which features ABBA classics such as Dancing Queen, SOS and
Money, Money, Money.
Mamma Mia! The Sing-A-Long Edition arrives in select
theatres around the country on September 5 for a limited
time.
The film's soundtrack spent five weeks atop the ARIA albums
chart and is now certified platinum.

MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE SOUNDTRACK Special Edition now lists the CD as
"deleted". This is disappointing as it was widely anticipated that the
second disc would include the remaining songs from the movie not
included on the standard CD, possibly instrumental score versions of
ABBA songs from the film, and possibly other content.
Perhaps it will be release later. When the film of the musical HAIRSPRAY
opened in 2007, a single disc soundtrack CD was released by Universal
Music. Several months later a two disc special edition was released with
additional songs, demo recordings, karaoke tracks and interactive
content. Perhaps the same strategy will be applied to MAMMA MIA!

British newspaper The Times reports that 'Thank You For The Music' "has
been hoicked out of the main body of the story and replanted in the
closing credits". This must be the part of the credits that was not seen

The news of an advance screening in Sydney on 10 June 2008 was
premature. It appears to have been a website glitch listing a session
for 10 JUNE rather than 10 JULY, the day the films opens in cinemas
across Australia.
However advance tickets for sessions starting 10 July are now available

The Official International ABBA
Fan Club reports that the Berlin premiere event on 2 July 2008 has
been cancelled, due to the threatened Screen Actors Guide strike that
saw the world premiere in London moved to 30 June. Other premiere events

Meryl Streep coming to Australia for Mamma Mia
Actors Meryl Streep (Donna), Pierce Brosnan (Sam) and Amanda Seyfried
(Sophie) will be visiting Australia as part of a whistlestop tour of
movie premieres. Following the world premiere in London, and events in
Berlin and Stockholm, they will visit Sydney and then Melbourne for a
gala premiere. It has been reported that "ABBA will reform" for the
Stockholm premiere, though this seems highly unlikely. Apparently all
four former ABBA members have been invited, but only Björn Ulvaeus and

it twice, just so you know ...), the widely popular Broadway musical is

MAMMA MIA! MOVIE PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED
Judy Craymer, producer of MAMMA MIA!, the worldwide smash hit musical
based on the songs of ABBA, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and
Björn Ulvaeus, has confirmed that the musical's producing company,
Littlestar, and Playtone will partner to make the film of MAMMA MIA!. Judy
Craymer and Playtone's Gary Goetzman will produce the film. No timeframe has
been announced for the production. Judy Craymer is delighted to be taking
MAMMA MIA! from stage to screen:
“The film has always been a twinkle in our eye but I’ve been so busy
concentrating on the stage productions around the world that I’ve not had time
