ABBA - ULVAEUS: 'I'VE FORGOTTEN ABBA'

ABBA star BJORN ULVAEUS has forgotten much of his time in the pop band - as he is suffering from severe memory loss.
The songwriter has revealed the condition is now so crippling that he can't even recall any of the highlights from his career including winning the Eurovision song contest in 1974.
He says, "It is like I was not even there."
Ulvaeus is now seeking professional help for the condition which has robbed him of his precious memories and he is also turning to old photographs and video footage in a bid to help jog his memory

This story appeared on wire services everywhere after Björn hosted a Swedish radio programme on 13 July 2008 on the topic of memory loss. On the programme he talked about his own "bad memory", that he could not remember specific details about events in his life, that he had tracked down old friends, squeezed into old ABBA costumes and tried hypnosis in efforts to jog his memory.

(An excellent break-down of the entire programme appears in the September issue of the Official International ABBA Fan Club Magazine)

Wire services and ABBA fan forums exploded with theories of Björn suffering from dementia, Alzheimer's disease and worse.

In this article from Belgian newspaper De Standaard on 10 September 2008 Björn was asked about his alleged memory loss:

What about your memory loss? We read some disturbing reports about that?

'Oh it is wildly exaggerated. I said in a Swedish radio interview that I cannot like some people relive certain moments from the past like it just happened, but my memory is working fine. If I close my eyes it's difficult for me to remember to be on stage in 1974, but that is mostly because I was choked by stress at the time!

Don't worry I don't suffer from dementia just yet!
