Han hotade ta sitt livBjörn Ulvaeus, 60, got the information that he might have a big tax drawback. Upset and angry he burst out: - Then I can all the same take my life. The police was sent to the family's house but they never had to do anything. Björn Ulvaeus was at home in the beautifully situated house at Djursholm outside Stockholm and was in a telephone conference with a business associssate. During the conversation they discussed an affair. But the man also told Björn Ulvaeus that there was a risque the whole affair might end in a big tax drawback. Björn Ulvaeus hadn't been informed about it earlier so he gut furious and threw out the drastical words: - Then I can all the same take my life. Afterwards he just hang up. - I was angry at the information he gave me, tells Björn Ulvaeus, 60. He went outside the house. Tried to call There was his wife Lena, 55. She noticed that the husband was upset but some time afterwards they sat down and Björn Ulvaeus fell a sleep in the heat. The man who Björn Ulvaeus had spoken to took what he said seriously - Afterwards he's told me that he had tried to call me, but I was outside and I didn't hear the phone, tells Lena The associate thought the situation was critical and called the police. He didn't realise that what he thought was a threat about committing suicide was in fact only an expression for anger. We've had an alert The police had the alert from the man at 15.52 and 15.59 a patrol was ordered to drive to the family's house. At the same time the police tried to reach Björn Ulvaeus relatives. - Then they called me, tells Lena Ulvaeus. The police say laconicly to her: - We've had an alert. Björn Ulvaeus is about to commit suicide. Lena Ulvaeus was shocked but said: - No, I don't think so. He lies here besides me in a chair. After the call the police cancelled the turn out and the patrol was retrieved. The police never manage to make it to the house. Björn Ulvaeus himself thinks it's an unpleasant incident. Through the misunderstanding he was said to be a would-be suicide. - Yes, and as you see I feel as good as nothing else and I haven't got one single thought about taking my life, he says and smiles broadly. He and his wife went to the Visfestival in Västervik three days ago where he is an expected guest. The family took their boat, a 17 metres long Fairline Squadron, and brought Marie and Tomas Ledin as their guests. Wearing shorts and sandals Björn Ulvaeus has enjoyed the last two days with relatives, friends and the festival. - We've had a really nice time, says Lena Ulvaeus. No tax drawback The closest ones know about the incident and that police was about to go there. But the relatives also now the background, that it was a business associate who misinterpreted Björn. - He is very regretful today, says Lena Ulvaeus. A week afterwards there's only one thing bothering them, that the police action will be taken seriously by those who really didn't know what happened. The police has resigned from the case. And the reason itself why Björn Ulvaeus was upset and threw out the drastical words is also settled. - It proved later that there wasn't any risk for a tax drawback, says Lena Ulvaeus. Source: Expressen 17 July 2005 An obvious over-reaction. It's hardly likely that Björn would seriously threaten suicide over an outstanding tax bill. |
