ABBA comebackAs former bandmate Agnetha Faltskog launches a new album, Abba star Anni-Frid Lyngstad is planning her own comeback. Blonde Lyngstad tells me she is currently writing a stage show. "I am hard at work on a musical, but I can't really tell any more" she says. "I am keeping it all a secret at the moment, but it will be known about before the end of the year". Lyngstad was speaking at the fifth anniversary performance of Mamma Mia!, the hit musical based on Abba's songs. Asked about Agnetha, the only band member absent on Tuesday night, Lyngstad added "I think she's very courageous and I wish her lots of luck". Would she consider returning to the studio? "I don't think so". Source: Daily Telegraph 8 April 2004 (page 25) It was reported elsewhere that Frida's actual response to the question was that she was working on "a musical project". That project turned out to be the song 'The Sun Will Shine Again' for ex-Deep Purple member Jon Lord's album Beyond The Notes, released in September 2004. Jon Lord was even part of Frida's entourage of friends at the Mamma Mia! anniversary event. The media, and many fans, took her comment "musical project" to mean "stage musical". |
