ABBA star BJORN ULVAEUS' Eurovision-winning guitar has gone missing in Sweden. The gold star-shaped instrument - which played a part in the band's 1974 Eurovision win - was due to go on display at a museum in Stockholm, but has gone missing. Museum spokesperson Ewa Wigenheim-Westman says, "We have received a lot of items from the group for this project. But we haven't found the star guitar yet. "This is the one Bjorn had when Abba won the contest in Brighton (England). Maybe someone out there can help us find it."

ABBA legend has it that the guitar was donated to a charity event in the 1970s. In 2006 the current owner, Alain Barthel, webmaster of ABBA - die deutsche Seite, had it autographed by Björn on the German television programme Leute Heute. See ABBA on TV for details of that event.
UPDATE 19 OCTOBER 2007: It turns out that there were two guitars made for Björn: a silver one, which is the one he played in the Eurovision Song Contest, and a golden one which was given to Bravo magazine in West Germany as a competition prize, which is the one mentioned above.
