WILLIAMS TO TEAM UP WITH ABBA?

British pop hunk ROBBIE WILLIAMS is planning a collaboration with pop superstars ABBA. The former TAKE THAT star has held secret talks with ANNI-FRID LYNGSTAD, a member of the Swedish band. The 60-year-old reveals, "Robbie and I talked about doing an Abba hit together. "He has not yet come back to me on that one." Fans of the 1970s group hope Williams will reunite them, 23 years after the four-piece split. A source says, "Maybe he could be the one to get them together again. It would be a sensational coup."

On October 20 2006, the following question and answer was posted on ABBA – The Site as part of the “Your Questions – ABBA’s Answers” feature:
I guess all the reforming questions have been asked......so, how about, who would you like to hear cover any of your songs?
Asked by site member "Bazz"

Frida: Paul Anka, the way he sings on “Rock Swings”, and Stevie Wonder. Robbie Williams and I once talked about doing an ABBA song together!! He has not yet come back on that one! (giggle)

Björn: Elton John, U2, Stones, Robbie Williams or The Eagles.

Frida’s response has been taken completely out of context to create this story. Frida and Robbie have indeed met on a few occasions. Robbie's authorised book Feel (Chris Heath; Ebury Press 2004, p 339) recounts a meeting in Stockholm in July 2003 during one of Robbie's tours:

Frida from Abba, and her two step-daughters (who are the princesses of Lichtenstein), arrive backstage to say hello. 'You look fantastic,' he says to Frida. She is, against all Abba logic, newly blonde. Rob became friends with them when they met skiing in Switzerland. (He says they're lovely. The hardest part of the skiing trip was that he couldn't get Abba songs out of his head, and he was forever on the verge of bursting into 'Super Trouper' when he was sitting next to Frida on the chair-lift.)

Görel Hanser has denied on behalf of ABBA that any “secret talks” have taken place. There has been no comment from Robbie Williams representatives.
