ABBA Live

Polydor remastered CD 1997

2nd paragraph: "After the release of the double LP 'The Singles - The First Ten Years' at the end of 1982, it was nearly ten years before an ABBA album appeared which contained recordings which the group's innumerable fans had not previously heard, when 'ABBA LIVE' was released (with minimal publicity) in the spring of 1992." Wrong. It was first released in Scandinavia, much of Europe, Australia, the USA, Canada and Japan in August (or within the following months) 1986. It was also released as half of the double album The Collection 2 in the UK in 1988. Even then, the "innumerable" fans didn't buy it.

3rd paragraph: "In the early 1990's, the rights to ABBA's catalogue of classic recordings… were acquired by PolyGram…" Wrong. PolyGram bought Polar Music in 1990, which is how they came to "acquire" the rights. Most outstanding international distribution deals made by Polar had expired by 1992.

continuing: "…this was the first time that the group's debut album, 'Ring Ring', had been released in Britain in any form…" Wrong. It was released in full as half of the double album The Collection 2, along with this Live album, in 1988.

4th paragraph: "[ABBA] had released the occasional live track… in special circumstances (such as the live version of 'Chiquitita' as recorded at the 1979 UNICEF music gala in New York, which appeared on a charity album)…" Wrong. This is actually the studio version, as lip-synced at the UNICEF concert.

6th paragraph: "…when the group appeared in the US on the 'Dick Cavett TV Show'…" Wrong. The special Dick Cavett Meets ABBA was made in Sweden with host Dick Cavett, but was not a part of his usual talk show series.

continuing: "...at least one track from each of the studio albums except the first one, 'Ring Ring'.". Wrong. There are no tracks on ABBA Live from 1975's ABBA LP.

7th paragraph: "The appearance of 'ABBA LIVE' in 1992…" Wrong, as discussed above.

Tobler fails to mention that the final three tracks on the CD ('Money, Money, Money,; 'The Name Of The Game'/'Eagle' and 'On And On And On') are in fact bonus tracks added to the original edition of the CD - the actual album (and cassette version) ended with 'Waterloo'. They are even described as "extra tracks" on the front cover of the CD booklet.
