Voulez-Vous

Polydor remastered CD 1997

3rd paragraph: amongst the list of singles released in 1979 is the coupling 'Angeleyes'/'Voulez-Vous'. Only in the UK was 'Angeleyes' the "featured" side, in all other territories 'Voulez-Vous' was either the A side or featured side of the double-A side single. Significantly, there was no promotional film made for 'Angeleyes', neither was it performed on the 1979 concert tour.

3rd paragraph: "… the world tour… was recorded so that the B-side of the last hit single of the year, 'I Have A Dream', could be a live track from Wembley…" Wrong. The tour was billed as "North American & European Tour", not a "world tour" The Wembley concerts were filmed and recorded for television and radio specials (and potential live album, though as usual this idea was cancelled). The inclusion of the live track on the single is a bonus use of the live recordings.

4th paragraph: "After 'Take A Chance On Me' was their first Number One of 1978, there was a huge gap of around six months before a new ABBA single was released…" Only in the UK (and this time, the USA). 'Eagle' had been released as a single between 'Take A Chance On Me' and 'Summer Night City' in much of Europe, Australia and Japan.

4th paragraph: "['Summer Night City'] can be found on this remastered reissue as a bonus track, since it was one of the first tracks recorded during sessions for the album." Indeed, the "full length version" was originally slated for inclusion on the album, which might have been worth mentioning in the notes.

4th paragraph: "'Lovelight', is also included here as a bonus track." No mention of the fact that it's a remixed version rather than the original.

5th paragraph, 2nd column: "… ABBA's next single, 'Does Your Mother Know' was the group's first ever to feature Björn as lead vocalist…" Wrong. Prior to 'Waterloo' and international success, most singles released by the foursome featured almost equal vocal contributions by all four. Additionally, 'Another Town Another Train' had been a minor hit in a couple of territories, and later songs such as 'Rock Me' were hits in countries other than the UK. Even the recent single 'Summer Night City' featured predominant vocals from both men.

5th paragraph, 3rd column: 'Angel Eyes' should of course be written as 'Angeleyes' (which Tobler got right in the 2nd paragraph). But most PolyGram releases write this song title the wrong way.

6th paragraph: "However, the impending divorce was casting a shadow over the group's future…" Björn and Agnetha's divorce was announced in January 1979, but Tobler writes here giving the impression that it was announced at the end of the year.

As always, the notes concentrate on the singles released from (and around) the album, and neglects to mention any song that wasn’t released as a single.
