Brian's ABBA Museum

Private ABBA Museum

ABBA on the Web - June 2008

As you have read elsewhere in this magazine, ABBA the Museum opens in Stockholm a year from now.

But it’s not the first ABBA museum. In fact there have been two “ABBA museum” websites on the internet for several years that you can visit right now from the comfort of your computer screen.

Brian’s ABBA Museum is created by Brian from Canada. It features Brian’s “30 year old collection of original posters, magazines, badges, patches, LP's, unusual memorabilia, PLUS several pages of the more rare and candid ABBA pictures and articles from magazines and newspapers”.

The site is organised by the various types of memorabilia. You’ll find magazines from the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany; posters from Sweden and the USA; collector cards from Australia, Sweden and The Netherlands; rare ABBA photographs; badges, patches and stickers; all sorts of merchandise from around the world; and much, much more.

There are fabulous photographs of Brian’s ABBA basement, literally wall-to-wall ABBA collectibles on display. Brian also tells the story of growing up as a young ABBA fan in England, to remain an ABBA fan and collector to this day.

Brian’s ABBA Museum is a very image-heavy website, and some pages may take some time to download on slower connections. However it is definitely worth the wait.

You could quite easily spend hours looking through everything in Brian’s collection.

The site Private ABBA Museum by Richard from The Netherlands features Richard’s collection of albums, singles, CDs, cassettes, picture discs, books and memorabilia, all in their own sections.

Richard’s record and CD collections concentrate primarily on records from The Netherlands, Germany, and central Europe, but also include items from many other countries.

There is also a page of items that Richard is looking for, in case any visitors may have items they may wish to swap or sell.

Unfortunately the site is hosted on a very basic GeoCities plan which can quickly exceed data transfer limits, so you may need to come back several times to see everything the site has to offer.

These two sites should whet your appetite for the delights in store when ABBA the Museum opens twelve months from now.
