ABBA On The Web · June 2011ABBA fans wanting to listen to ABBA music aren't limited to their ABBA CDs, DVDs and MP3s. There are several ABBA radio shows around the world that can be heard live on the radio and over the internet. The oldest ABBA radio show is Gracias Por La Música (Thank You For The Music, of course), hosted by the Fan Club's representative in Argentina, Oscar Alejo Smirnov. This year the show celebrates its 18th anniversary on air. Gracias Por La Música is broadcast every Thursday at 21:00 local time on FM Cien 105.7 in Villa Carlos Paz, Province of Córdoba, Argentina, and can be heard live online at www.fmcienvcp.com.ar. More information about the show can be found at graciasporlamusica.blogspot.com. The site features podcasts of previous shows, plus ABBA-related news from Argentina and South America. The newest ABBA radio show, Mundo ABBA (ABBA World) is broadcast from Mexico on internet radio mundo-abba.blogspot.com [link updated], every Saturday between 12:00-14:00 local time. Mundo ABBA is hosted by fan club member Gustavo Moran and started up in March this year. The show is primarily broadcast in Spanish, but English speakers can follow English commentary on Twitter www.twitter.com/abbagus and Facebook www.facebook.com/home.php#!/profile.php?id=100000583323190. ABBA fans in Canberra, ACT, the capital city of Australia, can listen to the GimmeGimmeGimme show every Sunday between 17:00 and 18:00 local time on 2XX 98.3 FM Community Radio. Listeners outside Canberra can listen live online at www.2xxfm.org.au/. The show is hosted by long-time ABBA fans Allison and Luke. Its subtitle is "there is more to ABBA than you think", hoping to expand listener's knowledge of ABBA beyond the popular hits. Listeners can interact with the show live through Facebook at www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=208926877837. If an hour or two of ABBA music a few times a week isn't enough there are two internet radio stations that play ABBA music 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. One is broadcast out of Russian at www.101.ru/?an=port_channel_mp3&channel=104, the other one from France www.webradios.fr/pop-rock-3444/pop-3445/radio/fiche/960-nostalgie-abba.html. The Russian station plays a mix of ABBA hits, lesser known tracks, songs from the ABBA members’ solo careers and other projects, and songs by related artists, while the French station concentrates on ABBA tracks only, though not restricted to the well-known hits.
