ABBA on the Web - September 2008
French ABBA fan and author Jean-Marie Potiez has a brand new book coming soon to our bookshelves entitled ABBA – The Scrapbook.
Jean-Marie also has an ABBA website. In fact it is one of the oldest ABBA websites on the internet, ABBA – Another Site.
ABBA – Another Site has some interesting and unique information. A primary feature of the site is Jean-Marie’s involvement with two ABBA-related projects.
Thank You ABBA details the making of the documentary which was released on video in 1994 to coincide with the 4 CD box set Thank You For The Music. Extra special are Jean-Marie’s descriptions of meetings with ABBA’s manager Stig Anderson, recording engineer Michael B. Tretow, art director Rune Söderqvist and costume designer Owe Sandström that he had while making the documentary. Anni-Frid 2 CD details the double disc compilation of Frida’s EMI singles and album, Frida 1967-1972, released in 1997. Included is a full English translation of the CD’s Swedish liner notes by Carl Magnus Palm, scans of Frida’s single sleeves, her album cover, newspaper articles and advertisements, and reviews of the CD.
ABBA Gay reproduces an article by Calle Norlén, originally published in Pride Magazine for Stockholm Europride 98, that investigates ABBA’s enduring popularity with the worldwide gay community. Be warned that the article contains some “adult content”.
There is also a small gallery of both rare and familiar ABBA photographs, and a list of Jean-Marie’s favourite links to other ABBA sites.
ABBA – Another Site has links to separate websites for Jean-Marie’s
previous and very popular ABBA books – ABBA: The Book, ABBA La Légende (the
first full-length ABBA biography in French) and A Tribute To Frida,
co-authored with Philippe Elan.
