Super Troupers A Celebratory Film from Waterloo to MAMMA MIA! - 30 years of music
April 6th 2004 was a big day for Abba fans: the 30th anniversary of
'Waterloo' winning the Eurovision song contest and launching the band on its
way to international stardom, and the 5th anniversary of the opening of
'Mamma Mia!', the hugely successful musical based on Abba's songs.
For the first time since they went their separate ways in 1982, Bjorn,
Benny, Anni-Frid and Agnetha were set to appear in public together,
attending MAMMA MIA! in London's West End to celebrate both anniversaries.
Songwriter, producer and Pop Idol guru Pete Waterman narrates 'SUPER
TROUPERS', the new DVD from POLYDOR RECORDS, this fascinating history of a
band whose songs he adores.
A band which has sold 350 million albums over the past 30 years, and
whose music is reaching a massive new audience through the worldwide
phenomenon of MAMMA MIA!, now officially "the World's Number One musical".
The DVD blends footage of the big day with entertaining early footage of
their careers back in the 1960s, in-depth interviews with all four
performers, and a rare insight into ABBA's songwriting and recording
techniques.
The DVD is released 20th September ahead of the 'SUPER TROUPERS'
documentary which will be screened on ITV on 21st September at 9pm.
