WEA’s promotion department, fearing that radio programmers might dismiss the debut solo effort from ABBA’s Frida without a fair listen, premiered the disk as a white-labelled test-pressing, and asked for guesses as to the artist’s identity. Responses included The Go-Go’s and Pat Benatar as nobody even came close to revealing the singers’ true identity. Produced by Phil Collins, the LP obviously features a radical departure from the standard ABBA sound, and the positive industry reaction to “hidden previews” has WEA enthusiastic over commercial possibilities.
