Rural retreat for ABBA star
“I want to be alone…” No, not Garbo. It’s ABBA’s Agnetha Fältskog speaking. The
39-year-old beauty has decided that, thanks anyway, she’d really rather be left
in peace. After the years of fame and fortune, the Swedish singing star has
retreated with her two children to a huge farm outside Stockholm. Tired of the limelight, cutting
records, giving interviews and public appearances, she’s tacked up a Keep Out
Sign and shut the door on the world. Latest reports have it that not even
her old chums see her. According to one of them: “Agnetha wants to protect her
integrity and her privacy… we are no longer in touch.” It all seems a very far
cry from those mad, marvellous ABBA days of yore. Transcribed for ABBA World
